- Panel moulding: the rectangular picture-frame boxes you see on feature walls and majlis rooms. The most requested job in Dubai.
- Wainscoting: panelling on the lower third of a wall, usually capped with a chair rail. Practical as well as decorative: it protects the part of the wall that actually gets touched.
- Crown moulding: the profile where wall meets ceiling. Softens tall villa ceilings and hides the crack line that often opens there.
- Chair rail: the mid-wall moulding. A single horizontal line at roughly a third of the wall height, with or without panelling below it.
- Skirting: finishes the floor line. In many Dubai towers this is marble; PU skirting is the standard upgrade when the original is thin or damaged.
Almost everything we fit is PU (polyurethane) foam. It arrives pre-primed, is light enough for adhesive fixing, does not absorb moisture, and takes any interior paint. More on the material choice below.
How a proper installation runs
A good moulding job is a sequence, not a single step. Anyone can photograph a finished wall from the doorway. Ask to see close-up photos of corners and joints.
- Measure and mark out. Walls in Dubai apartments are rarely square. Every wall gets measured, and the layout is marked with a laser level, not chalked by eye.
- Check the wall. Flatness, paint condition, socket and switch positions, AC vents, existing skirting. Uneven plaster telegraphs through thin profiles, so it is fixed before anything goes up.
- Plan the layout. Panel widths stay consistent per wall, spacing works around doors, sockets and vents, and pile-up of cuts in one visible corner is avoided. This is decided before anything is cut.
- Cut and dry-fit. Corners are mitred, and each frame is dry-fitted before adhesive comes out. This is the step rushed jobs skip.
- Fix and join. Profiles are bonded with PU adhesive. Joints are glued, pinned where needed, and filled so the seam disappears under paint.
- Caulk and finish. Every edge is caulked, nail holes filled, surfaces wiped. The wall is handed over paint-ready: smooth, sealed, and waiting for colour.
Where it works in Dubai homes
Wall moulding panels suit rooms where a flat painted wall feels unfinished. These are the jobs we see most often across Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
- TV and feature walls: usually three to five boxes behind the television.
- Majlis rooms: panelled walls with crown moulding is the classic combination, and the one guests notice first.
- Hallways: wainscoting takes the scuffs from bags, trolleys and abayas, and wipes clean instead of needing repainting.
- Bedroom headboard walls: framing behind the bed gives the look of a custom headboard without the custom price.

PU vs gypsum vs wood
All three are sold in Dubai. For walls in air-conditioned Dubai interiors, PU is usually the right answer. For elaborate classical ceiling work, gypsum still has its place, and we will say so if that is what your design needs.
- PU foam: light, waterproof, dimensionally stable through years of AC cycling, pre-primed, and fixed with adhesive alone. The detail is moulded rather than carved, which suits the clean panel look most homes want.
- Gypsum: crisp detail and the traditional choice for ornate ceilings, but heavy, brittle, and prone to cracking with normal building movement. Needs a wet trade on site.
- MDF and wood: cheap and strong, but it swells with humidity and is termite food. A risky default in coastal towers.
Wall moulding vs wall panels
Wall panels in Dubai usually means something different from wall moulding. The two get mixed up online, especially when you compare supplier prices at Dragon Mart or search for PU stone panels, 3D wall panels or WPC wall panels.
- Wall moulding: slim profiles fixed onto a flat wall to create frames, rails and borders. The wall underneath stays visible and gets painted.
- Wall panels: full-surface cladding that covers the wall completely, like PU stone panels, 3D textured panels and fluted WPC panels. These hide the wall rather than decorate it.
Both are sold all over the city. The practical differences: panels can cover damp or damaged walls that paint alone will not fix, while moulding is lighter, cheaper per feature wall, and easier to remove later.
