Carpet Installer in Dubai: Fitting, Fixing and Wall-to-Wall

Most carpet complaints in Dubai are not about the carpet. They are about the fitting: ripples down the middle of a bedroom, a seam you can see from the doorway, or an edge lifting near the wardrobe six weeks later. The material was fine. The installation was rushed. A carpet installer in Dubai should measure every wall, check the subfloor, stretch with a power stretcher, and finish doorways and stairs so the floor stays flat.

Wall-to-wall carpet fitting in a Dubai home

Most carpet complaints in Dubai are not about the carpet. They are about the fitting. Ripples down the middle of a bedroom, a seam you can see from the doorway, an edge lifting near the wardrobe six weeks after the job was done. The material was fine. The installation was rushed.

This page explains how carpet installation actually works, what changes the price, and what to ask a carpet installer in Dubai before you hand over a deposit.

What a carpet installer does on site

A proper fitting is a sequence, not a single step. Anyone can photograph the middle of a room. Ask to see photos of doorways, stair nosings and column cut-outs.

  • Measure. Rooms in Dubai apartments are rarely square. A good installer measures every wall, not just two, and plans where the joins will fall.
  • Check the subfloor. Tile, screed or concrete all behave differently. Loose tiles, dust and unevenness show through carpet within months.
  • Plan the layout. Pile direction should run the same way in connected rooms, and patterns need to match across joins. This is decided before anything is cut.
  • Fit the underlay or grippers. Adhesive, double-stick or gripper rods, depending on the carpet, the floor and whether the fitting is permanent.
  • Cut, join, stretch. Stretching with a power stretcher is what stops ripples later. Kneeing carpet into place is the shortcut that causes them.
  • Finish the edges. Doorway bars, skirting tucks, and clean cuts around columns and AC returns.

Wall-to-wall carpets in Dubai

Wall-to-wall carpet is still the default in villas, hotel corridors, cinemas, majlis rooms and executive offices, mainly because of how it handles sound. Full-floor coverage cuts footstep noise between levels and softens echo in rooms with a lot of glass and marble, which describes most of the city.

Order the material only after a site measurement. Pattern repeats and join planning can add 5-15% to the quantity you thought you needed. In air-conditioned rooms, carpet holds temperature better than tile, which is why bedrooms and cinema rooms are the most common conversions.

The same rules apply to wall to wall carpet UAE-wide: measure first, match pile direction across connected rooms, and stretch the floor so it stays flat through Gulf air-conditioning cycles.

Carpet fixing and repairs

Not every job needs new carpet. Carpet fixing in Dubai usually means one of four problems. Keep your offcuts. A matching patch is nearly impossible to source two years later.

  • Ripples or bubbles: the carpet was never stretched properly, or humidity got under it. Usually solved by lifting one edge and re-stretching.
  • Lifting edges: failed adhesive or a gripper that was fixed into weak screed.
  • Open seams: joins done with tape instead of a proper seaming method.
  • Damaged patches: burns, stains or pet damage, which can often be replaced with a cut-in patch if offcuts were kept.

Homes

Carpet works best where you are barefoot or where noise matters: bedrooms, majlis, dressing rooms, home cinemas, kids' rooms, staircases and upstairs hallways.

A few honest trade-offs. Low-pile and loop-pile carpets hold up better in hallways but feel less plush. Deep plush looks better in a bedroom and shows footprints. Light colours look excellent in photos and need more cleaning in a city with this much dust.

Stairs are the job most worth paying for. Every tread and riser is a separate cut, and a bad stair fitting is both visible and a trip hazard.

Offices, hotels and commercial spaces

For offices, carpet tiles are usually the right answer. When a chair castor destroys one tile or a coffee spill sets in, you replace that tile instead of the floor. Order 5% spare from the same dye lot and store it.

Broadloom and wall-to-wall suit hotel rooms, corridors, meeting rooms, mosques and showrooms, where an unbroken surface is part of the look. Commercial fittings also have to survive cleaning machines, so seams and edge trims matter more than they do at home.

Most commercial work in Dubai happens outside business hours. Confirm night or weekend access with building management before you fix the date.

What changes the price

Carpet installation is quoted per square metre, but the labour line moves with the room, the floor underneath and the access. A cheap quote that skips underlay, stretching or edge trims is not cheaper. It is the same job, paid for twice.

To get a quote that will not change on the day, send room dimensions, photos of each space, the building and area, and your preferred carpet type. For anything above a couple of rooms, insist on a site visit first.

What moves the quoteWhy it matters
Floor area and room shapeSmall rooms with many corners cost more per square metre than large open ones
Carpet type and backingPile, pattern repeat and backing change cut waste and join method
Subfloor conditionLevelling, loose tiles or dusty screed add prep time before any carpet is laid
Underlay specificationThe right underlay is part of the fit, not an optional extra
Stairs, columns and built-insCurved walls, staircases and fitted furniture are separate cuts, not a simple m2 rate
Removal, furniture and accessOld carpet or tile disposal, moving furniture, and out-of-hours or phased access

Luxury carpets

Premium and custom carpets change how the job is planned rather than how it is glued down. Pattern matching, seam placement out of sight lines, and protecting the pile during fitting all take longer.

If you are specifying a designer or custom-woven carpet, involve the installer before the order is placed so the roll width suits the room and the pattern repeat works with your layout. That is the difference between luxury carpets Dubai villas keep for years, and an expensive roll that never sits square.

Supply and install, or install only

Both are normal. Confirm which model you are buying before a deposit is taken.

  • Supply and install: samples, measurement, material, delivery and fitting from one provider. One point of accountability if something goes wrong.
  • Install only: you have already bought the carpet. Confirm the installer will fit client-supplied material and what happens if the quantity falls short.

Temporary and event carpet

Exhibition stands, conferences, stages, pop-up retail, wedding venues and short-term rentals usually need carpet for days, not years. Temporary fittings use tape or loose-lay methods that come up without damaging the floor underneath.

Agree the removal and disposal cost upfront. It is the line most often forgotten in event budgets.

Questions worth asking before you book

If the answers are vague, keep looking. Carpet fitting quality shows up in the first humid week and the first time furniture is dragged across a doorway.

  • Have you fitted this exact carpet type before?
  • Does the quote include underlay, accessories, old-floor removal and furniture moving?
  • Who measures, and is the measurement free?
  • How many days, and does the room need to be empty?
  • Do you stretch with a power stretcher?
  • What happens if an edge lifts in three months?

FAQ

Common questions

How much does carpet installation cost in Dubai?
It is quoted per square metre and depends on the carpet, underlay, subfloor condition and complexity of the space. Stairs, columns and furniture moving are priced separately, so ask for those as line items. Mohammad Decor sends a written quote with labour and material separated after measurement.
How long does a fitting take?
One standard bedroom is typically a few hours. A full villa, a staircase or a phased office fit-out runs over several days.
Can carpet go over existing tile?
Often yes, if the tiles are sound and reasonably level. Loose or cracked tiles need attention first, otherwise the fault telegraphs through the carpet.
Carpet tiles or wall-to-wall for an office?
Carpet tiles, in most cases, because damaged sections can be swapped individually. Wall-to-wall suits boardrooms and reception areas where the seamless look matters.
Do you remove the old carpet?
Yes, removal and disposal can be included. Confirm it in the quote, since it is a common source of extra charges.
Can you fix rippled carpet without replacing it?
Usually. If the carpet itself is in good condition, lifting an edge and re-stretching it solves most rippling.
